Concurrent Enrollment is defined as the simultaneous enrollment of a qualified student in a local high school and in one or more postsecondary courses. Roaring Fork High School allows any student, who is in good academic standing, and who has the maturity to successfully complete a college course to do so. Roaring Fork High School will pay for up to two college courses each semester for a student. Roaring Fork High School has a memorandum of understanding with Colorado Mountain College through which students may enroll and receive dual course credit. If students enroll in courses at CMC, they are responsible for their own transportation. Additionally, if a student does not pass a CMC course, that student is responsible for paying for the course in full. Students may enroll in CMC courses both on campus and off campus. On campus courses are offered in English and Math and include Developmental Education courses-courses designed to increase students' achievement so that they are college ready by the end of the course.

What is ASCENT?
ASCENT stands for Accelerating Students through Concurrent ENrollmenT. Students who have completed at least 12 credit hours of postsecondary course prior to completion of his/her 12th grade year may be eligible for the ASCENT Program. They remain students in their Local Education Provider (LEP) for one year following their 12th grade year, and the LEP receives ASCENT specific per-pupil state funding that it uses to pay their college tuition at the resident community college rate. Students receive their high-school diplomas at the end of their ASCENT year.
